Nelson Piquet has hit out at double world champion Fernando Alonso, claiming that no matter which team the Spaniard drives for, there is always a mess there. Piquet also believes that Alonso only has himself to blame for the lack of success in the past decade.
Alonso won two consecutive titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006, before a turbulent year at McLaren. After a further two seasons at Renault, the Spaniard joined Ferrari in a bid for more success but conceded defeat on most occasions to Sebastian Vettel.
“Fernando Alonso has had the chance to win up to five world championships, but the reality is that there is always a mess wherever he is,” said triple world champion Piquet.
