Carlos Sainz admits that he was disappointed to miss out on points at Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix. The Spaniard suffered from his fifth retirement of the season after an electrical problem forced him into the garage on lap 30 of the race.

Sainz was also involved in a collision with Esteban Ocon as they both battled it out for position. The 22-year-old extended his first stint on the super soft compound, looking to perfect the ‘overcut’. However, an engine issue cut short his race, slashing his chances of scoring points.

“It was a very positive day for us in general – apart from the retirement,” said Sainz.
