Mercedes boss Toto Wolff believes that people shouldn’t be so quick and jump to say the Silver Arrows will be favourites to come out on top this weekend in Belgium. The Circuit Spa-Francorchamps hosts the twelfth round of the 2017 season and concludes the summer break which began earlier this month.

On paper, Mercedes seem to possess the car that will be fastest around the historic circuit. The Brackley squad has won the Belgian Grand Prix twice in the last three years, with retired world champion Nico Rosberg crossing the line in first last year.

But Wolff says people should not be so quick to assume the team will once again win this year: “On paper, people will assume that Spa should suit our car because it is a circuit where aerodynamic efficiency is extremely important.
