7:04 – Fernando Alonso hailed a “great” first test in LMP2 machinery ahead of his outing at the Daytona 24 Hours in January with United Autosports.

Alonso will link up with McLaren youngster and 2018 reserve driver Lando Norris, as well as Phil Hanson, for the endurance event for the team chaired by McLaren chief Zak Brown.

McLaren-Honda Formula 1 driver Alonso travelled straight from Bahrain, scene of his LMP1 test with Toyota, to MotorLand Aragón, to pilot United Autosport’s Ligier JS P217.

United Autosport confirmed that Alonso worked through various set-up changes and downforce configurations, and completed runs on low fuel and high fuel.
