9:54 – Fernando Alonso says he is open to sticking with McLaren for 2018, highlighting “unfinished business together”, but needs reassurances over its future plans.

Alonso initially raced for McLaren in 2007, after winning back-to-back world titles at Renault, and narrowly missed out on a third straight crown to Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen.

A frosty relationship with team-mate Lewis Hamilton sent him straight back to Renault, before a five-year stint at Ferrari, with which he finished runner-up on three occasions.

Alonso returned to McLaren in 2015, for the outfit’s reunion with Honda, but the manufacturer has struggled to produce a reliable and competitive power unit, restricting him to occasional points finishes.
