18:36 – Valtteri Bottas says his recovery from the back of the field to second position in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix showed the importance of never giving up.

Bottas started second, alongside Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, but got caught up in another collision with fellow Finn and Ferrari rival Kimi Räikkönen at Turn 2.

Having bounced over the inside kerb and tagged Räikkönen’s car, Bottas crawled back to the pits to take on a new front wing and swap tyres, after which he was a lap down.

He managed to unlap himself behind the Safety Car and, as rivals ahead – including Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel – hit trouble, gradually made up lost ground to emerge in third.
