16:14 – Force India Deputy Team Principal Bob Fernley has defended the squad’s tactics during the Canadian Grand Prix, after Sergio Pérez and Esteban Ocon ran nose-to-tail for much of the race.

Pérez held fourth, closely behind Daniel Ricciardo, while Ocon held fifth spot, running 13-lap fresher tyres, having extended his first stint.

Pérez was unable to find a way through Ricciardo, with Ocon suggesting on the radio that he should be permitted the opportunity to attack the Australian.

Pérez remained resolute, imploring Force India to “let us race”, though both were eventually usurped by a charging Sebastian Vettel, the German running a two-stop strategy.
