9:18 – Formula 1 drivers can be issued with penalty points for a multitude of driving offences throughout the course of a campaign; GPUpdate.net provides an overview of how penalty points were distributed in 2017.

Under Formula 1 regulations, drivers are issued with penalty points should they transgress, and receive a one-race ban should they amass 12 points across a rolling 12-month period.

While no-one has yet reached that mark, a few have come close, with ousted Toro Rosso racer Daniil Kvyat at one stage holding 10 points, some of them a hangover from 2016.

Kvyat was indeed the driver who racked up the most penalty points through 2017, despite being absent from five Grands Prix, having being hit with sanctions during the mid-point of the campaign.
