9:23 – Red Bull-backed Dan Ticktum is set to receive the opportunity to test a Formula 1 car as part of his prize for winning the McLaren Autosport BRDC award.

Ticktum, 18, won this year’s Macau Grand Prix in dramatic fashion, capitalising on a final-corner crash, and also competed in Formula Renault 2.0 and the GP3 Series.

He beat BRDC Formula 3 champion Enaam Ahmed, fellow Eurocup race winner Max Fewtrell and dominant Euroformula Open victor Harrison Scott to the award, presented in London on Sunday night.

Ticktum has been contracted to Red Bull since the beginning of the year, spending time in the team’s simulator, ostensibly complicating some elements of the prize.
