12:02 – Renault chief Cyril Abiteboul has stressed that an “error-free” weekend at the United States Grand Prix is “essential” in the team’s quest to fight for fifth in the Constructors’ Championship.

Renault, in the second year of its return to Formula 1 as a works team, targeted a top-five classification in the standings, as part of its long-term ambition to fight for the title.

However, Renault holds only eighth, having slipped behind Haas in the wake of failing to pick up a point across successive events in Malaysia and Japan.

Renault will head to the United States with an altered line-up, having recruited 2018 signing Carlos Sainz Jr.
