12:14 – Renault Managing Director Cyril Abiteboul says the operation’s “extreme preparation” paid off, after it vaulted Toro Rosso to take sixth in the Constructors’ Championship.

Renault set itself the target of finishing fifth in 2017, but realigned its approach after Williams pulled clear, with the manufacturer often hampered by reliability setbacks.

Renault arrived in Abu Dhabi behind Toro Rosso but overhauled the Faenza-based outfit courtesy of sixth place for Nico Hülkenberg.

As a result, Renault finished on 57 points, four clear of Toro Rosso, and Abiteboul praised the team’s meticulous approach to the weekend.

“Mission accomplished,” said Abiteboul.
