Cyril Abiteboul has said there is “much more to come” from Renault over the second half of the season after a “drastic” upgrade at the British Grand Prix.

An ERS issue prevent Nico Hulkenberg from a top five finish at Silverstone after debuting an updated R.S.17 which included a new floor.

However, such was the scale of that particular update, it put other development programmes on hold until the main upgrade was completed and introduced.

Now that has happened, Abiteboul is confident they have the platform to build an even more competitive car for the remainder of the season.

“We knew what we wanted to do but we knew that it was quite a drastic change in the philosophy of the car and we knew it was going to take a bit of time,” Abiteboul told Motorsport.com.
