Jolyon Palmer has conceded that he is prone to getting “distracted” and “overdriving” as he clings on to his seat at Renault.

Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul has warned that “nobody is safe” and urged Palmer to collect some points for the team as they have become too reliant on Nico Hulkenberg.

Palmer reckons his focus has drifted away from himself and toward the achievements of Hulkenberg, and that needs to change if he is to stay on with Renault.

I’ve got to drive the best I can drive and whatever happens on the other side, that’s another story really,” said Palmer.
