The Woking based F1 squad’s boss Eric Boullier admits that, it will take some time for the McLaren-Renault relationship to gel, also he insists that, the team can’t expect to be instantly high performance like existing customer Red Bull in 2018.

Following three unacceptable seasons with Honda engine, McLaren are moving to Renault engines from next season. McLaren has signed a three-year contract with the French manufacturer and will run the same engines as both Renault factory team and Red Bull Racing.

“If you have a 10-year relationship with a partner obviously you have a different connection which we don’t have yet as we are building the relationship,” Boullier told Crash.net.
