Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team officially confirmed that F2 champion Charles Leclerc will race with Marcus Ericsson at newly rebranded Alfa Romeo-backed Sauber F1 in 2018.

The promotion of 20-year-old Ferrari protege Leclerc, who is from Monaco, leaves German driver Pascal Wehrlein without a seat, with Williams the only remaining team with a vacancy.

Ferrari reserve Antonio Giovinazzi is the third driver.
