8:46 – Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz Jr. has been reprimanded for driving in a “potentially dangerous” manner during the second practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Sainz Jr. was judged to have driven unnecessarily slowly along the back straight in the mistaken belief that pursuing Haas rival Kevin Magnussen was also on a slow lap.

However, Magnussen was on a timed effort and stewards at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve handed Sainz Jr. a reprimand, his first of the season.

“On the straight approaching Turn 13, the driver of Car 55 [Sainz Jr.] slowed very significantly,” read the report by the stewards.
