Fernando Alonso has notched up his first few miles in Toyota’s No.8 LMP1 car at the rookie test in Bahrain on Sunday.

Alonso shared duties with Sebastian Buemi, who took part in a 40-minute shakedown fresh from winning the Six Hours of Bahrain event.

Buemi then handed the car over to Alonso for the remainder of the two-hour session and he completed 37 laps of the Sakir International Circuit, posting a best time of 1:43.709s on what was his penultimate lap.

That time was a second and a half slower than Buemi’s best, while fellow LMP1 debutant Thomas Laurent was the fastest rookie on the track by being around four tenths quicker than Alonso.
