AlphaTauri are the first team on the 2021 grid to break curfew this season after spotting an issue with Yuki Tsuonda’s car in second practice.

The Red Bull sister team spotted a system problem relating to the Honda power unit in the closing stages of FP2 and the FIA confirmed that they worked through the night in order to resolve the issue.

Luckily for AlphaTauri, though, the breaking of the curfew has not come at the cost of a grid penalty ahead of what will be Tsunoda’s first Formula 1 race.

Each team are permitted to break curfew twice in a season without being penalised, while the PU element which needed to be fixed is not one of six components subject to penalties.
