Ex-Formula 1 driver Pastor Maldonado has his first full-time drive in two years after joining the Dragonspeed LMP2 team for the World Endurance Championship.

Maldonado, winner of the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix, was left without a drive in Formula 1 after a five-year career with Williams and Lotus.

He was due to follow Lotus into their transition as Renault, but a funding issue with his long-time sponsors PDVSA ensured Maldonado was put on the scrapheap.

He was set to be joined by another ex-Formula 1 driver in Esteban Gutierrez, but he has since joined Mercedes in a simulator role.
