Lando Norris says that Carlos Sainz has been like a mentor to him in the Briton’s rookie season on the grid.

The two McLaren drivers proved to be the team’s most successful pairing in a long time, performing well enough to ensure they finished P4 in the constructors’ championship.

Despite having some close fights, including a tight qualifying battle that ended 11-10 in Norris’s favour, the two enjoyed a good relationship throughout the season.

“Carlos was a good mentor for me. I really don’t want to say that, because then I get the feeling that I am the worse of the two,” Norris told Motorsport.com.
