A gutted George Russell felt that P8 ahead of Fernando Alonso was the minimum result for him before having to retire from the Styrian Grand Prix.
While Russell has World Championship points to his name when deputising for Lewis Hamilton in Bahrain last year, he has yet to earn points with Williams during his three-year spell with the team.
He was well on course to break that lengthy run when racing inside the top 10 at the Red Bull Ring, but an issue with the pneumatic pressure ultimately ensured that Russell had to retire from the race.
Back in the paddock, Russell was confident he could have bagged points in his uncompetitive Williams car and even fancied his chances of finishing ahead of Alonso in the Alpine.
